Police Officers Cleared In Port Orange Shooting

Port Orange, FL-Five police officers involved in the shooting and wounding of a man during a domestic call in Port Orange have been cleared and the shooting declared justified. 56-year-old Howard Button III was shot during the call at the Spartan Avenue home. Officers returned fire when Button came out of the home and shot at them.

His wife had called 911.

Police say Button refused to obey police commands to come out with his hands up and continued to display a .357 caliber handgun.  Police say Button reloaded after he fired at officers.

Button has since recovered.

FDLE was investigating the shooting which happened in February of this year.

Button faces charges including five counts of attempted 2nd degree attempted murder of a law enforcement officer. He remains in custody on no bond.
