Flagler County, FL – Flagler officials first got wind of something not quite right when a woman told them her 90-year-old father had been approached by someone who implied they worked for the county and appeared to be soliciting donations for a senior center. Flagler County PIO Julie Murphy says the county isn’t doing that and adds, “That’s not the way we do business”. So far, Murphy says that’s the only incident she’s aware of but says that doesn’t mean other people haven’t gotten the same pitch.
The approach apparently uses printed materials belonging to the Flagler County Senior Services Division that has a handwritten invitation added asking people for “an appointment to speak to you.” Murphy says the county has nothing to do with anything like that and wants to be sure no one is misled.
