Ormond Beach, FL – A motorcyclist is airlifted to the hospital following a crash that shut down US 1 in Ormond Beach for over an hour and had to have his leg amputated.
The Ormond Beach Police Department says the accident happened around 10:15am Wednesday on the 1100 block of North US 1, just southeast of where US 1 meets Interstate 95.
OBPD Officer Keith Walker says the accident involved a motorcyclist and a vehicle and that both sides of US 1 had to be closed so Air One – the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office helicopter – could land on the road and take the motorcyclist to Halifax Health Medical Center under a trauma alert..
US 1 was shut down between Wall Street and Lowndes Avenue around 10:30am and re-opened just after Noon, per Walker.
