Daytona Beach, FL – No injuries are reported after a fire forced an inn near Daytona Beach City Hall to be evacuated overnight.

The Daytona Beach Fire Department says it happened around 12:40am Wednesday at the Three Oaks Inn on 331 South Palmetto Avenue.

DBFD spokeswoman Julie Maddux says 35 people were evacuated from the 3-story building after a mattress on the top floor caught fire while someone was smoking in bed.

“All occupants made it out safely and were evacuated from the building because of the sprinkler system and not due to the fire,” Maddux added.

Firefighters and paramedics spent the next 4 hours helping those who had to be evacuated as well as putting the small fire out.

The Red Cross assisted any occupants that were displaced, according to Maddux.

The inn suffered no serious fire damage.
