Bunnell, FL – A registered sex offender living in Bunnell heads back to prison for sexually abusing his fiancee’s underage sister.
34-year-old Ismael Angel Rios was convicted in 18 minutes by a 6-person Flagler County jury and sentenced to 15 years in prison by 7th Circuit Judge J. David Walsh on Tuesday.
Rios – who was on probation for a prior sex offense at the time of the January 2013 incident – received a mandatory sentence because he was labeled a Prison Releasee Reoffender.
Authorities say the victim – a 14-year-old girl – was sexually assaulted by Rios at least 2 times, once while he was painting a Palm Coast home that belonged to the girl’s parents and again a few days later in the same home.
The girl did not come forward until 10 months later, telling her mother and sister what happened, according to the arrest report.
The girl’s sister – who was Rios’ fiancee at the time – confronted Rios about the incident and he eventually admitted that it was true, according to her court testimony.
Rios was arrested around a month later by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and charged with lewd and lascivious battery.
Rios was convicted in September 2009 of lewd and lascivious molestation involving another 14-year-old in Seminole County. He was released from prison in April 2012.
