Daytona Beach, FL – 2 people are dead and another is in grave condition following a shooting at a residence in Daytona Beach.
The Daytona Beach Police Department says 27-year-old York Zed Bodden is the suspect wanted in the shooting at the Carolina Club Apartments near the intersection of Dunn Avenue and North Williamson Boulevard.
Officers called to the scene around 2:15pm Thursday discovered 3 people with gunshot wounds, including one who had a bullet wound in the head.
2 of the victims died on scene, according to DBPD. The 3rd victim – a man – was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach as a trauma alert.
In a press conference on scene, DBPD Police Chief Mike Chitwood says the dead victims are young women who were local college students and that Bodden was the boyfriend of one of them.
Chitwood said the suspect is thought to be the roommate of the victims and that at least 8 to 10 shots were fired inside the apartment.
Police think the shooting was triggered by an argument where the women – who were roommates – tried to kick the suspect out of the apartment. The man in the hospital was helping the women kick Bodden out, per Chitwood.
DBPD says the suspect is believed to be in a white Chevrolet Trailblazer with a temporary paper tag of BVA 8433. A photo of the vehicle is posted below.
Investigators are not releasing the names of the victims at this point because next of kin still have to be notified.
Police are considering Bodden – who is a black man standing 6 feet tall and weighing around 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes – to be armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information is urged to call DBPD Sergeant John Creamer at 386-671-5225 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
