Daytona Beach, FL – NASCAR fans are getting some new views once the Daytona Rising project is finished at Daytona International Speedway.
Speedway officials announced on Tuesday that 2 large video display boards are being installed in the infield, joining 2 others that were in place prior to the start of the $400 million renovation of the historic motorsports facility.
Everyone in the Sprint FanZone will also be able to see a new video screen measuring 20 feet tall by 40 feet wide once the 2016 Daytona 500 comes around.
DIS President Joie Chitwood III says all of the infield video boards will provide 8,470 square feet of viewing for fans in the new motorsports stadium.
“We’re constantly looking at new offerings for our devoted fan base,” Chitwood III added. “The video boards and Sprint FanZone upgrades combined with the amenities related to Daytona Rising project will ensure that our fans have the best experience in motorsports.”
The video boards that will be visible to fans sitting in the frontstretch grandstands are 40 feet tall by 80 feet wide and use 3D modeling technology. They’ll be placed just behind Pit Row and will require 2 special structures in order to keep them in place, according to DIS.
Fans will be able to see the television feed during racedays as well as other content produced by DIS.
DIS also plans to move the Alert Today Florida main stage in the Sprint FanZone so that the new 20 x 40 video board can be better viewed by those in the FanZone.
Daytona Rising is expected to be finished by the time of the 2016 Rolex 24 At Daytona. That’s around a month before the Daytona 500.
