Jacksonville, FL – A Palm Coast man gets over a decade in federal prison for having child pornography on his home computer.

61-year-old Timothy Edward McDermott was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months by United States District Judge Timothy J. Corrigan, according to a press release sent on Thursday by the United States Department of Justice.

McDermott was facing at least 5 years behind bars and up to 20 years once he entered a guilty plea in May at the US District Court in Jacksonville.

McDermott was arrested in August 2014 as part of an undercover investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to identify people who were trading child porn online.

FBI officials say they obtained a search warrant for McDermott’s home after determining that he had a computer that was hosting and trading child porn through a peer-to-peer file sharing program.

Court documents show that the FBI found 310 child porn images as well as 68 child porn videos on McDermott’s computer once it was seized, some of which involved babies being sexually exploited by adults.

McDermott admitted to downloading the porn in an interview with FBI officials, according to DOJ.
