Daytona Beach, FL – After a brief pause, AAA says gas prices at the pump here and across the state have resumed their downward slide.
In some places, prices had briefly bumped up at the pump, though AAA said that didn’t happen in the Daytona Beach area.
The most recent figures in Daytona Beach show the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded at the pump is $2.15. A week ago the price was $2.19. A year ago the price for that same gallon of gas here was $3.16.
Statewide the latest AAA survey shows the price of that gallon of gas on average is $2.18. Nationwide the average price is $2.25.
“Average prices rose about a nickel in the past couple weeks due to rising oil prices and elevated demand at the same time that refineries were conducting seasonal maintenance,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “More and more refineries are returning to full capacity, which will beef up supplies, helping to push gas prices lower in the coming weeks.”
