Strong Winds Equal Dangerous Beach Conditions Here

Volusia County, FL -Update: The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory for Volusia County beaches until 8 PM tonight. A Coastal Flood Advisory has expired. Surf forecast at 5 to 6 feet today and forecasters are warning about possible strong rip currents. The surf advisory warns of larger breakers and pounding surf that could knock you off your feet. Always swim in front of a staffed lifeguard stand.

Strong and gusty onshore winds means it will be a dangerous day at the beach. The National Weather Service in Melbourne has posted a Coastal Flood Advisory until Tuesday at 4 AM. The NWS has also posted a High Surf Advisory in effect until Tuesday at 4 AM.

Large breakers of 5 to 7 feet forecast in the surf zone with strong rip currents. Tides expected to run 1 foot to a foot and a half above normal.

Wave run-up expected to the dune line at high tide.

Rough, pounding surf expected to make entering the water dangerous.

Swim only in front of a manned lifeguard stand. Weak swimmers should consider staying out of the water.
