DeLand, FL – Deputies searching for a wanted man near DeLand arrest 2 other people instead after stumbling onto a methamphetamine lab.
31-year-old Joshua S. Reynolds and 25-year-old Brittney G. Isitt were taken into custody around 6pm Saturday, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the arrest report, deputies were searching a property on the 2300 block of North Kepler Road for a man who they say is known to hang around the area.
A pair of deputies found Isitt and Reynolds sitting in a storage shed with the door ajar and questioned them about the wanted suspect, per the report.
Reynolds – whose grandparents own that property – told those deputies that the wanted man was there earlier in the day but wasn’t there now. He was also sweating “profusely” when he wouldn’t allow deputies to look inside the shed, according to VCSO.
Deputies entered the shed after getting the permission of Reynolds’ grandparents and found numerous items and ingredients used for making meth, per the report.
Isitt admitted when questioned that she had 2 small bags with meth inside on her and turned them over, according to VCSO.
Part of Reynolds’ statement was redacted, but he did tell deputies he wasn’t involved in making meth, per the report.
A special meth lab team came in to clean up the shed.
As of 5:30pm Monday, Isitt remains at the Volusia County Jail on $7,500 bond on charges of drug possession, manufacturing meth and unlawful possession of meth-making chemicals.
VCJ records show Isitt was arrested this past March on a battery charge and again in July for a drug offense and petit theft.
As for Reynolds, he’s also charged with manufacturing meth and unlawful possession of meth-making chemicals. He’s held without bond for violating probation on a prior drug charge.
VCJ records show he’s been booked there 5 other times since February 2008, including this past June on similar charges.
