Ormond Beach, FL – A 24-year-old man is in custody after he called Ormond Beach police saying 2 men broke into his beachside apartment and beat him up.
The Ormond Beach Police Department isn’t releasing the name of that man at this time but did confirm that he lives at the apartment where the attack took place.
Officers were sent to an apartment on Vining Court late Tuesday afternoon and discovered the resident tied up and bleeding from his head as well as a “large” amount of drugs inside, according to Public Information Officer Keith Walker.
The incident location is just south of State Road 40/East Granada Boulevard near South Halifax Drive.
Investigators believe the attack could be drug-related and that the resident was also pistol-whipped before he was robbed of his phone and his money.
OBPD believes one of the suspects is black and the other is white. No other details were released by police on the suspects.
Walker added that Air One – the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office helicopter – was assisting ground units in searching the area for the suspects.
OBPD plans to release more information on the case soon, per Walker.
