Bunnell, FL – Troopers are searching for anyone in a white vehicle that may have witnessed a fatal traffic accident in Flagler County over the weekend.
The Florida Highway Patrol says that vehicle – whose make and model were not released by FHP – was driving in the area of US 1 near the County Road 304 intersection when Tyler M. Tracy was killed last Saturday morning.
FHP Sergeant Dylan Bryan says it’s possible that whover was in the vehicle at the time may have seen the accident as it took place.
“A passenger vehicle – white in color – was traveling eastbound on CR 304 at the time of the crash,” Bryan added. “This vehicle stopped within the intersection and then proceeded northbound on US 1.”
FHP believes the 21-year-old Tracy was driving a white 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe north on US 1 with another man in the passenger seat when the vehicle went left into the median and then swerved off the roadway, crashing into a utility pole.
The impact threw Tracy – who was not wearing a seat belt – out of the vehicle and then the vehicle rolled onto its left side, pinning Tracy underneath, per the FHP accident report.
Tracy died on scene, while his passenger – 22-year-old Michael G. Neves of Palm Coast – wasn’t hurt, according to troopers.
The report noted that Neves was wearing a seat belt and that he had been drinking just prior to the crash. An autopsy is pending to determine if Tracy was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.
Troopers aren’t sure at this point what caused the vehicle to drift into the median.
Charges are pending at this time, according to FHP.
Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call FHP at 904-359-6572 or dial *FHP (*347) with a cell phone.
