Edgewater, FL – A woman is dead and a dog is found safe after firefighters put out a mobile home fire in Edgewater.
It happened around 2:30pm Wednesday at the Eastern Shores mobile home park off of West Marion Avenue and US 1.
The body was found in a mobile home on Camino Real Drive while firefighters were fighting the flames, according to Edgewater Fire Department Captain Jill Danigel.
“Upon arrival, crews found light smoke showing from the mobile home,” Danigel added. “There were conflicting reports from neighbors that one of the residents of the home may still be inside.”
Danigel noted that it’s unclear at this point exactly where the fire started in the mobile home.
The trailer itself wasn’t completely destroyed, but there is enough damage to where the woman’s husband will need to find another place to stay for now, per Danigel.
A dog living in the mobile home managed to escape safely and was found roaming in the area soon afterward.
The flames were completely put out around 20 minutes after the call for help came in.
The victim’s husband wasn’t home at the time of the fire, according to Danigel.
EFD isn’t releasing the victim’s name or age at this time.
Police are investigating the incident along with the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
