Orange City, FL – A Deltona man has been charged in an armed carjacking outside an Orange City Perkins restaurant. Police say two women were standing outside the Perkin’s on Saxon Boulevard Wednesday night around 11:18 PM when they were approached by a man asking if the restaurant was still open. They told him it was closed. That’s when the victims say he pulled out a handgun and demanded the purse and keys from one victim. She handed the purse over but told him there was nothing of value inside. He handed it back and took the keys and left in her vehicle.
A BOLO was broadcast for the vehicle which was spotted a short time later by DeLand PD and VCSO on Woodland Boulevard near SR 472. Orange City PD responded and a felony traffic stop was conducted. 30-year-old Seif A. Khan was arrested and charged. He was found in possession of a BB gun that looked like a black handgun. He was positively identified by the victims at the Perkins.
He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail and is held on no bond.
