Daytona Beach, FL – An elderly Daytona Beach woman leaves jail after she admitted to shoving her grandson to the ground during an argument about her having Alzheimer’s disease.
88-year-old Victoria R. Sheehan was booked on Sunday and left the following day after she was charged with battery, according to the Volusia County Jail website.
The Daytona Beach Police Department arrested Sheehan around 5:30pm Sunday at a location within the city. That location and Sheehan’s address were redacted from the arrest report.
According to the report, officers responding to a well-being check at an apartment found Sheehan’s 34-year-old grandson with a bump on the left side of his head from where he had hit the ground.
The grandson told DBPD his grandmother has Alzheimer’s but she’s not been diagnosed and that she had an “outburst” when he wanted to take her to a doctor for an evaluation. That’s when he claims she pushed him to the ground.
When questioned by police, Sheehan admitted to pushing her grandson, per the report.
The report also noted that a 33-year-old woman who lives in the same apartment as Sheehan and her grandson witnessed the incident.
Sheehan was arrested by DBPD even though her grandson did not want to press charges, per the report. He also refused medical treatment for the bump to his head.
The report shows that Sheehan and her grandson have lived together for over 3 years.
