Daytona Beach, FL – A man who goes by the nickname “Weezy” is wanted for attacking and carjacking a man near Sunnyland Park earlier this month.
The Daytona Beach Police Department says an arrest warrant is out for Michael A. McCorvey and that he’ll be held on $15,000 bond at Volusia County Jail once he’s caught and charged with armed carjacking and driving with a revoked license.
McCorvey’s girlfriend – Angelique M. Casias – was arrested 2 days after the incident near the intersection of Washington Street and Kingston Avenue for luring the victim out of his 2008 Toyota Matrix so he could be attacked by McCorvey and another man. She has since left VCJ after posting $10,000 bond on an armed carjacking charge.
According to the arrest report, the 30-year-old victim met the 22-year-old Casias 2 weeks earlier at Razzle’s nightclub and had been exchanging texts with her regularly since then.
The victim – a Daytona Beach resident – claims Casias introduced him to the 33-year-old McCorvey at Razzle’s a week before the carjacking and told police that it was Casias’ boyfriend and another man he did not recognize who attacked him and took the Matrix.
The victim told police that Casias asked him on the night of the carjacking to pick her up at Washington and Kingston and that she appeared “very nervous” when trying to talk him out of leaving his vehicle to smoke a cigarette.
Once he did leave the vehicle, police think 2 black men armed with guns approached the victim, with the unidentified man getting into the Matrix and driving it away.
Officers think Casias’ boyfriend hit the victim on the left side of his face with a gun and made him take off all his clothes before running away with Casias on foot heading east on Kingston.
McCorvey has been booked 5 prior times at VCJ and is considered armed and dangerous, per DBPD.
Anyone with information on McCorvey is asked to call DBPD Detective David Dinardi at 386-671-5219 or email him at dinardid@dbpd.us.
