Daytona Beach, FL – 3 days of record-setting heat leads to a record-setting month for hot weather in the Daytona Beach area.

The National Weather Service says November 2015 goes down as the warmest November ever on record for Daytona Beach.

With 1 day left to go in the month, the Daytona Beach area is averaging 73.5 degrees for November. That’s nearly 7 degrees above normal and a full degree above the record set in 1986.

That number will likely go up once meteorologists factor in the temperature for Monday since the high that day came close to 80 degrees.

The heat wave kicked in strong early in the month with record-setting heat on 3 of the first 9 days. November 2nd’s high was 90 degrees while November 3rd’s high was 89 degrees. November 9th also set a record high for that date with 88 degrees.

There was also 2 nights where the temperature tied for the warmest low temperature ever recorded for that date. Those dates were November 8th (71 degrees) and November 18th (73 degrees).

All that heat is helping keep Daytona Beach on track for its warmest year on record. According to NWS data, the Daytona Beach area is averaging 73.9 degrees through November 29th. That’s ahead of the 73.1 record average set in 1990.

NWS Senior Forecaster Matt Volkmer says he expects Daytona Beach to set a new yearly record for heat in 2015 because December is projected to be hotter than normal.

As of Sunday, November rainfall measured out at 5.55 inches, but almost all of that rain came in 1 day. 4.69 inches fell on November 21st, which is a record for that date.
