Daytona Beach, FL - A Daytona Beach woman has been sentenced to 11 years behind bars in the fatal accident that killed a 22-year-old woman. 44-year-old Sandra Dee Heilman was driving under the influence when her vehicle slammed into a vehicle at a stop light. That crash killed Laura Hrobsky.
That accident happened on Beville Road near the South Nova Road intersection in November 2012. Prosecutors say Heilman was likely also distracted by her cellphone.
Heilman’s blood alcohol level was .152 at the time, almost twice the legal limit. She was driving 61 miles an hour in a 35 zone at the time of the accident. Heilman also tested positive for THC and was likely under the influence of marijuana.
She faced a possible 15-year maximum prison term.
When she’s released she will be placed on 4 years of drug offender probation and have her driver’s license revoked for life.
