Daytona Beach, FL – Investigators are on the case after a bomb threat is made at a Daytona Beach Walmart for the 2nd time in a week.

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Bomb squad personnel sounded the all-clear at the store on 1101 Beville Road just after 3 PM Tuesday, over 3 hours after the threat was phoned in.

The Daytona Beach Police Department suspects that the person who made this threat is also the same person who made another bomb threat to this same store on Saturday night.

DBPD says the Walmart worker who took Tuesday’s bomb threat phone call believes she spoke to the same person when Saturday’s bomb threat was phoned in around 8:30 PM.

Around 500 people were evacuated on Tuesday, including around 200 employees and around 300 customers. Around double that number was evacuated on Saturday and no one was allowed to go back in until the all-clear was sounded just before midnight.

According to Saturday’s incident report, the Walmart worker who took the call says the voice on the other end told her that the bomb would “go off in an hour” and that “all these people have to die” because of a specific woman whose name was redacted.

The report noted that DBPD spoke to that woman on Saturday and that she didn’t know of any specific person or reason why someone would’ve called in a bomb threat.

The Walmart worker told DBPD she thinks the voice on the other end might have been a black man, per the report.

This is at least the 4th bomb threat called into this particular Walmart this year. The others were on March 7th and on Halloween night. In both cases, the store was also evacuated and nothing threatening was found.
