Daytona Beach, FL – Detectives are looking for the man who tried to rob a beachside resort with a gun earlier this week.

The Daytona Beach Police Department says it happened around 1 AM Tuesday at the Americano Beach Resort on 1260 North Atlantic Avenue.

According to the incident report, a dark-skinned black male wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt was buzzed in through the front door by a hotel worker and that’s when the suspect pulled out a silver-colored gun.

Security video shows the hotel worker backing away from the front counter with his hands in the air as the suspect – who was also wearing blue latex gloves – jumped the counter.

The worker told DBPD the suspect said “you know what it is” and told him not to run, but the worker ran out of the hotel anyway and eventually ended up at another nearby resort where he then called 911.

The video shows the suspect attempting to open the cash register cabinet under the front counter before running away on foot heading north.

The suspect is believed to be around 6’3 with an average build and was also wearing black pants and shoes during the attempted robbery.

The victim told 911 he thinks there was a second person involved who was driving a white-colored sport utility vehicle.

Anyone with information can contact DBPD Detective David Dinardi at 386-671-5219 or dinardid@dbpd.us or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
