DeLand, FL – A 70-year-old man is airlifted to the hospital after he was thrown from the bulldozer he was operating at a construction site in DeLand.
Tullie R. Jones is being treated for several broken bones and is in stable condition at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, according to the DeLand Police Department.
DeLand PD Sergeant Chris Estes says Jones was working near Lambrook Drive in Victoria Gardens when the accident happened around Noon Wednesday.
“Jones was driving over a dirt mound when it appears the machine rocked forward over the uneven ground and he fell out,” Estes added. “The soft earth may have provided enough cushion to minimize the injuries.”
Estes says Jones may have been run over by the bulldozer after falling out but he couldn’t say for sure if that was the case.
“This was a work-related accident,” Estes added. “No further action is required on the part of law enforcement.”
