Daytona Beach, FL – A restaurant in one of Daytona Beach’s largest tourist zones will be closed for some time due to a fire.

The Longhorn Steakhouse at 2504 West International Speedway Boulevard sustained around $250,000 in damage from a fire discovered around 3:45 AM Saturday.

Daytona Beach Fire Department Chief Dru Driscoll says police first responded because the call came in as a motion alarm.

“[Officers] responded to find smoke showing from the building,” Driscoll added. “[Firefighters] arrived and made entry in attempts to access the rear kitchen area where the bulk of the fire appeared to originate.”

Firefighters managed to “quickly contain and extinguish” the fire once they got on scene, per Driscoll.

“The fire behavior appeared suspicious in nature and the investigation was transferred to the State Fire Marshal’s Office,” Driscoll noted.

No injuries were reported.

It’s unclear when the restaurant plans to re-open.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the employees at that restaurant so they can continue to get some money until the restaurant re-opens. $750 has been contributed as of 6:30 PM Monday. Click here to go to that page.
