Daytona Beach, FL – Hotel numbers go up in Volusia County thanks in part to motorcycle enthusiasts and video gamers.
The latest Mid-Florida Marketing & Research report shows overall hotel occupancy in Volusia went up 8% year-over-year in October.
Mid-Florida President Evelyn Fine says 55% of available hotel rooms in the county were filled up in October 2015 compared to 51% in October 2014. That’s the 2nd consecutive month it’s gone up.
“Biketoberfest had a positive impact on the month of October,” Fine wrote in the report. “Also, the 2050 Daytona gaming event reported an overall occupancy of 56% and an average daily rate of $91.12 for the [Halloween] weekend.”
Visitors were also treated to the warmest November on record in the Daytona Beach area and not much rain, according to the National Weather Service.
Overall average daily rate per hotel room in Volusia increased 2% in October 2015 to $104.28. It was at $101.07 in October 2014.
Mid-Florida’s report also shows revenue per available room – also known as REV/PAR – went up 11% last October compared to the prior October. REV/PAR came in at $57.18 last October. It was at $51.30 during the same month in 2014.
Other than August and June, overall hotel occupancy in Volusia has gone up every single month this year compared to the same month last year. Other than August, REV/PAR has also gone up every single month in 2015 compared to 2014.
The average daily rate has gone up every single month so far in 2015 versus 2014, per Mid-Florida’s report.
Occupancy numbers in October were highest for hotels in and around Daytona International Speedway and Daytona Beach International Airport while the highest rates were for beachside rooms in New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach, respectively.
