Daytona Beach, FL – A big construction project is set to begin for one of Daytona Beach’s busiest roads.

Weather permitting, the Florida Department of Transportation hopes to start work Monday (December 14th) on resurfacing an over 2-mile stretch of State Road 400/Beville Road.

FDOT spokeswoman Jennifer Horton says the maintenance project will stretch from just west of Woodcrest Drive to just west of US 1/Ridgewood Avenue.

“The upgrades will include bus stop pedestrian pads, drainage infrastructure, pedestrian features at signalized intersections and curb ramp reconstruction to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act standards,” Horton added.

Among the bigger changes include more accessible pedestrian signals at the intersections on South Clyde Morris Boulevard and near the Walmart and a 5-foot-wide sidewalk on both sides of the road between Woodcrest and Clyde Morris.

Other than the occasional lane closure by P & S Paving to do work, traffic isn’t expected to be heavily impacted.

The $2.8 million project should wrap up completely by summer 2016, according to Horton.
