Port Orange, FL – The State Fire Marshal is investigating after a 58-year-old woman and her 2 dogs are found dead in a Port Orange mobile home.

The woman’s body – yet to be formally identified – was discovered by the Port Orange Fire Department around 10:30 PM Wednesday in the living room of a residence on Landis Avenue.

Firefighters discovered flames shooting through the roof upon arrival and needed a bulldozer to gain complete access to the burning home due to overgrown vegetation around it, according to POFD.

The woman’s dogs were found dead in one of the mobile home’s bedrooms, per firefighters.

Firefighters managed to contain the flames within 10 minutes but it took them longer than that to find the woman and the dogs due to the high amount of books and papers in the home, according to POFD.

An autopsy will be done to determine the exact cause of death.

POFD says it’s unclear at this point how the fire started.

City officials say the homeowner had been cited 7 times by code enforcement since 2005 for having high weeds and grass on the property.
