Edgewater, FL-A dog is in quarantine today after it bit a toddler and several adults this morning in Edgewater at a home on Marilyn Drive. The call came in around 9:15 AM.
Edgewater Fire Rescue crews responded Sunday morning to a report of a pit bull which had bitten the child and was trying to bite adults who were trying to rescue the child. Fire crews arriving at the scene found the dog in the act of biting the adults and had to hold the dog off using a fire hose and fire extinguisher. Police arrived a few minutes later. An Edgewater police officer was able to secure the dog in the back of a patrol car.
Fire crews treated five patients-four adults and one child. All were transported to local hospitals with what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Edgewater Police Department and Edgewater Animal Control are conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the attack and identifying the owner of the dog. The dog is being held under quarantine at the Edgewater Animal Shelter.
