Volusia County, FL-A lawsuit to stop the county from enforcing three beach driving ordinances will be heard in court this afternoon.
The group “Sons of the Beach” filed a lawsuit in July claiming Volusia County doesn’t have the power to enforce the ordinances passed by Volusia County Council in May. Two of the ordinances would create vehicle free zones on the bach in front of the proposed Hard Rock and Westin Hotels in Daytona Beach. The third ordinance lays out criteria property owners must meet if they want to request vehicle free beach zones for their projects in the core tourist zone in Daytona Beach.
The lawsuit will be heard at the courthouse in DeLand.
