Daytona Beach, FL – Around 20,000 people are expected to ring in the New Year on Daytona Beach’s Main Street.
Business owners are gearing up for what’s become a local New Year’s Eve tradition with the annual ball drop and street party, now in its 10th year.
Main Street from South Peninsula Avenue to State Road A1A will be closed for the event, which will feature multiple stages of entertainment, street performers, food and kids’ attractions.
John DiGuilio with Dylan Properties – operators of Main Street watering holes Dirty Harry’s, Bank & Blues Club and Full Moon Saloon – says all of the clubs, restaurants and shops on Main Street are taking part in this year’s event, which starts at 6 PM and ends at 2 AM.
This annual event is usually the biggest on Daytona Beach’s Main Street other than fall’s Biketoberfest and Bike Week in spring.
The ball drop is scheduled for midnight at the corner of Main Street and Wild Olive Avenue. Partygoers can also watch fireworks over the ocean near the Daytona Beach Pier after the ball drop.
