Ormond Beach, FL – Investigators continue to search for a white man who broke into an Ormond Beach home and stabbed a married couple during the Christmas weekend.

The Ormond Beach Police Department says it happened around 4:50 AM Sunday at a residence on the 500 block of Andrews Street. That’s just south of Sanchez Park near US 1.

OBPD Officer Keith Walker says the victims – 30-year-old Adam Phillips and 27-year-old Shelly Phillips – were in the home along with their 2 small children when the suspect broke in.

“An unknown white male had entered the residence and attacked Shelly in the living room,” Walker added. “Shelly then called out to Adam for help. Adam went into the living room and was also attacked.”

The suspect then left without taking any property or making any demands, per Walker.

“Both victims suffered multiple stab wounds and were transported to the hospital for treatment,” Walker noted. “Adam’s condition is listed as critical but stable. Shelly’s condition is listed as stable.”

Officers had to force their way into the home after Shelly managed to call 911 but neither she nor her husband could make it to the front door, according to the incident report.

Walker says the kids were not hurt and are in the care of friends with the approval of the Department of Children & Families.

OBPD believes the suspect is in his late 20’s to early 30’s with a thin build and face. He stands around 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored beanie cap.

Police released a composite sketch of the suspect on Wednesday. That sketch is posted below.

Anyone with information is asked to contact OBPD Detective Danielle Reagan at 386-566-4304 or danielle.reagan@ormondbeach.org. If it’s after business hours, you can call Volusia County dispatchers at 386-248-1777.

Those who want to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward can call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477.
