Daytona Beach, FL – A DeLand teenager is in custody after 2 people were shot in a road rage incident minutes before 2015 came to an end in Daytona Beach.
That 17-year-old boy – yet to be identified by the Daytona Beach Police Department – allegedly shot a man and woman at the Marathon gas station on West International Speedway Boulevard.
DBPD Sergeant James Chirco says the call for help came in at 11:55 PM on New Year’s Eve.
“A 911 call was received that a person had been shot at [the] Marathon,” Chirco added. “Investigation revealed a black male and black female had both been victims of apparent gunshot wounds.”
Officers think it all started at the McDonald’s restaurant on the corner of West ISB and Clyde Morris Boulevard after the teenager and the victims were involved in some kind of traffic accident.
“[It] continued eastbound to [the] Marathon and is being labeled as a road rage incident,” Chirco stated. “An altercation ensued at the gas station where a white male suspect fired several rounds, striking the black male and black female victims.”
A DBPD officer found the shooter fleeing westbound on West ISB near the Interstate 4 on-ramp and pulled the vehicle over.
“He was taken into custody without incident,” Chirco said.
Both victims were taken to Halifax Health Medical Center for treatment. Their condition isn’t known at this time.
