Daytona Beach Shores, FL – Police are looking for the man who used a knife to rob a Daytona Beach Shores resort.
The Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety says it happened around 7:15 PM Saturday at the Fantasy Island Resort on 3205 South Atlantic Avenue.
Sergeant Michael Fowler says the clerk on duty – a 75-year-old woman – called 911 for help.
“Arriving officers learned that a male had entered the lobby of the resort brandishing a long filet knife,” Fowler stated. “He threatened the clerk and demanded money.”
The suspect – described as a white man between 25 and 35 years old and with a goatee – left after going behind the front desk and taking all the money in the safe. DBS police didn’t say how much that was.
“He was last seen northbound from the property on foot,” Fowler added. “He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt at the time of the robbery.”
No injuries were reported.
The suspect managed to get away despite search assistance from Air One – the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office helicopter – and K-9 units from the Port Orange Police Department.
