Deltona, FL – 3 teenagers are in custody after the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office ties them to at least 11 vehicle break-ins in the Deltona area.
19-year-old Mike Rivera-Feliciano, 18-year-old Staquan Moton and a 16-year-old boy WNDB is not identifying due to his age were arrested early Monday morning after the stolen vehicle they were riding in crashed into a home on Coventry Estates Boulevard in Deltona.
VCSO spokesman Andrew Gant says it all started around 4:30am Monday when deputies were sent to the Lakeside Condos on Cypress Woods Court.
“Volusia County sheriff’s deputies received a report of several suspicious males carrying flashlights and trying car door handles in the area,” Gant stated. “Shortly after that, the Sheriff’s Office received another report on the suspects.”
It was around 5am by the time deputies went to Coventry Estates Boulevard to check on a vehicle break-in and that’s when 4 suspects were spotted, per Gant.
“When deputies arrived in the area, the suspects saw them and took off in their own vehicle,” Gant noted. “They crashed it into the residence at 440 Coventry Estates, then ran away. There was minor damage to the house and no injuries to anyone inside.”
VCSO’s K-9 and air units as well as air units from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office found Rivera-Feliciano, Moton and the 16-year-old around an hour later hiding in a screened-in porch on Red Mulberry Drive, which is near the crime scene.
“They’d ripped open the screen on the back door to get inside,” Gant added.
The 4th suspect is still at large and hasn’t been identified at this time by VCSO.
Investigators found out later on that the car which crashed into the home was reported stolen out of Altamonte Springs on Friday, according to Gant.
“It was full of stolen property linked to several vehicle burglaries,” Gant said. “At this time, deputies have connected them to 11 reported cases.”
When questioned, all 3 suspects admitted to driving into Deltona from the Orlando area and breaking into vehicles, according to the VCSO report.
Rivera-Feliciano, Moton and the 16-year-old have been charged with several counts of burglary, resisting arrest and grand theft auto.
As of 2pm Tuesday, Rivera-Feliciano and Moton are held on $26,500 bond at Volusia County Jail. The 16-year-old is currently held at the Department of Juvenile Justice facility in Daytona Beach.
