Ormond Beach, FL – A pair of Volusia County men are out on bond after they admitted to damaging Ormond Beach city property in order to get a stuck vehicle out of mud.
25-year-old Richard D. Clark of Daytona Beach and 20-year-old Andrew D. McEwen of Ormond Beach were booked at the Flagler County Jail on Monday. Each has since posted $1,500 on a felony criminal mischief charge.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office says it happened at a water well station near a wooded area close to the Hunters Ridge community.
A maintenance worker called deputies to the scene around 9 AM Monday after he discovered the men trying to free a blue Ford Mustang stuck in front of Water Well Station #25 on Ashton Look Road.
Responding deputies found Clark and McEwen at the scene and both admitted to using the front door from the station building to try to free the car from the mud. Both also told FCSO that the car had been stuck for over 24 hours.
City of Ormond Beach officials say there was around $2,000 in damage done to the building, including damage done to some electrical boxes inside. Clark and McEwen both denied forcing open the doors to the electrical boxes, according to the arrest report.
