Daytona Beach, FL - Hours after a Deltona state House representative announces a run for Congress, one of the other candidates in that same race drops out.
Former US Congresswoman Sandy Adams ends her run for the United States House District 6 seat, according to a press release sent by her campaign Wednesday afternoon.
“I would like to thank the many people I’ve heard from over the last several weeks offering their prayers and support as I’ve dealt with a serious health issue,” Adams said in that release. “I’m happy to report that after surgery, with proper care, I am optimistic about the future. However, I’ve had to accept that I won’t have the energy required to continue my race.”
Adams – who hasn’t released any other details about her health issue – was initially elected to the US House of Representatives in 2008 after serving at the State House for 8 years. She was forced to face off against longtime Republican Congressman John Mica when district lines were re-drawn and she lost to him during the 2012 Republican primary election.
