Daytona Beach, FL – 2 Volusia County schools get high marks from a national publication for the way it uses the Internet to educate its students.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University scored top spot in the 2016 U.S. News & World Report list for online bachelor’s degrees. ERAU’s Worldwide campus tied for #1 with Penn State University following 2 consecutive years in the top 5.

“What defines Embry-Riddle’s online education is our attention to student support,” said Dr. Jason Ruckert, Embry-Riddle Worldwide’s vice chancellor for online education. “With decades of experience in distance learning, we are setting the standard for world-class online education by focusing on engagement and services critical to student success.”

The University of Illinois at Chicago, Temple University and Ohio State University round out that list.

ERAU-Worldwide – which serves more than 22,000 students online – also ranked in USNWR’s Top 50 for online non-MBA graduate business programs in 2016.

The Daytona Beach campus was recently named #1 for the 16th year in a row in the 2016 Best Colleges guidebook for best undergraduate aerospace, aeronautical and astronautical engineering programs. ERAU’s Arizona campus came in at #3 on that list.

Daytona State College also did well in the latest USNWR rankings, coming in at #7 for Top Online Bachelor’s Programs in 2016. It’s the 4th straight year DSC has been ranked in the top 10 for that category by USNWR.

“Staying on top of best practices for online delivery and faculty training is critical to maintaining our excellent service to students,” said Andrea Reese, chair of online studies at DSC. “With many of our students back-to-school working adults, they have as much to learn from each other as they do from faculty. Our online classrooms reflect that.”

Over 1,650 baccalaureate students have enrolled in DSC online courses so far this school year, according to the school. 12,628 students did likewise during the 2014-2015 academic year.
