Edgewater, FL – A bicyclist is in serious condition after being struck by a pickup truck near Edgewater Public Library.
The accident happened in front of 103 West Indian River Boulevard around 10:45 AM Monday, according to the Edgewater Fire Department.
City of Edgewater Public Relations and Special Events Coordinator Jill Danigel says first responders found the bicyclist in the westbound lanes of Indian River/State Road 442 upon arrival.
“The patient was transported by ambulance to Halifax Health Medical Center with serious injuries,” Danigel added. “The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Edgewater Police Department.”
All westbound lanes of SR 442 were blocked for around an hour as police and paramedics worked in the area. The road has since reopened.
Authorities have not identified the driver of the truck or the bicyclist involved but did say it was an adult.
