Edgewater, FL – Police in Edgewater want your help to find the people who broke into a pharmacy and a gas station on US 1 early Thursday morning.

The break-ins – which occurred around 30 minutes from each other – happened at the Walgreens on 3010 South Ridgewood Avenue and the Sunoco on 607 North Ridgewood Avenue.

Edgewater Police Department Captain Joe Mahoney says it looks like the same 2 people broke into both locations between 4:15am and 4:50am Thursday, with the Walgreens being hit first.

“During the burglaries, entry was made by prying open the front entrance doors,” Mahoney added. “At Walgreens, the offenders attempted to steal an [automated teller] machine located inside the store. However, they were unsuccessful.”

Mahoney also noted that the suspect damaged several items when breaking into the Sunoco.

EPD’s incident reports in both cases were heavily redacted, with no other details released, including a description of the suspects.

However, EPD did release security video of the Walgreens incident which showed the 2 people coming in through the front door and pushing aside some shopping carts blocking that door before trying to carry the ATM away. That video is posted above this article.

Investigators think there may be a connection between these robberies and similar break-ins lately in the Volusia and Flagler area.

Anyone with information is asked to call EPD at 386-424-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
