Bunnell, FL – The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is now short of a K-9.
Char – a 5-year-old German Shepherd – was euthanized last week after biting down on the hand of a deputy trying to feed him.
FCSO officials say that, in the past, Char also bit a handler who has since left the agency and now works for the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in a different department.
A veterinarian helped FCSO decide to put Char down after determining that the dog showed signs of food aggression towards humans, making it far more difficult to retire him and have him adopted.
A memorial service is in the works, but no date has been set at this time.
FCSO is considering getting another dog to replace Char.
