Volusia County, FL-Both sides argued their cases in front of a judge here Monday on the beach driving petition that seeks to put any decisions on that issue with county voters. The county says state lawmakers put those decisions solely at the discretion of Volusia County Council.
The judge heard both sides but did not say when she would rule.
The petition calls for an amendment to the county charter.
Supporters of beach driving are unhappy with recent decisions to restrict driving on stretches of beach in front of several upscale hotel projects.
