New Smyrna Beach, FL-A series of public meetings for the County Charter Review Commission start tonight with a session in New Smyrna Beach.
Former County Councilmember and Commission member Pat Northey says she is interested in seeing an ethics code for public officials addressed in the charter review. Northey points to the Waverly bus bench campaign ad fiasco as one of her motivations, as well as a recent kerfuffle on council when it turned out a group doing a presentation before council had County Chairman Jason Davis on its board. Some council members didn’t know his role in the agenda item.
Northey says, even though the county attorney said it wasn’t a conflict, she feels it should have been revealed whether or not Davis stood to profit financially which he says he didn’t.
The meeting tonight is at 530 PM at New Smyrna Beach Regional Library.
