Palm Coast, FL – A Texas woman is dead and 2 men are hurt following an early-morning crash on Interstate 95 in Palm Coast.
The Florida Highway Patrol says it happened around 2am Monday on the northbound side at Mile Marker 289, which is next to the Palm Coast Parkway exit.
According to the accident report, a 2015 Nissan Rogue driven by 43-year-old Dagobert Laurent of Houston was in the inside lane when it slowed down and then merged right in front of a semi in the outside lane.
Troopers believe the front end of the semi hit the right side of the Nissan, killing 40-year-old Micale Annilus of Houston as she sat in the front passenger seat.
Laurent and another passenger in the Nissan – 21-year-old Winderson Annilus of Key West – were taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach in serious condition.
The driver of the semi – 31-year-old Reynier R. Pino of Miami – wasn’t hurt, per the FHP report.
The report noted that everyone except Winderson – who was sitting in the left rear passenger seat – was wearing a seat belt and that neither driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
