New Smyrna Beach, FL – Parking hours for one of the busiest roads on New Smyrna’s beachside could be expanding by Tuesday night.

The New Smyrna Beach City Commission could extend the parking hour limit along Flagler Avenue when it meets Tuesday night.

The ordinance – if approved – allows drivers to park for up to 4 hours on Flagler between Peninsula Avenue east of the North Causeway to Atlantic Avenue.

Tuesday’s reading is the second and final one. The first reading was passed unanimously during the October 13th NSBCC meeting.

The current limit in that area is 2 hours, but that was extended at the request of many Flagler Avenue merchants when a special task force was assembled by the city to research ways to implement paid parking in certain beachside parks.

Traffic signs showing the 4-hour limit are already installed, but there’s a 30-day grace period in place, according to NSB officials.
