Flagler Beach, FL – Flagler Beach police are encouraging citizens to sign up for a free online program that could help recover valuables if they get stolen.

The Flagler Beach Police Department says “Report It” – a service available through FBPD’s partnership with “Leads Online” – is an easy way to catalog what you own and post it in a secure Internet location that only you are able to access.

FBPD Captain Matt Doughney says any resident in the city can now upload photos, serial numbers, receipts or any other kind of information about anything of value that they own which could be stolen.

“This is a win-win for our community,” Doughney added. “Our partnership with Leads Online since 2014 has been extremely valuable in our efforts to combat crime in Flagler Beach.”

Doughney says having that kind of information readily available can be essential to police because it often is the difference between finding or not finding stolen property.

“It provides our citizens with an effective tool to document their valuables,” Doughney added. “Should they become a victim of theft or burglary, it enhances our ability to solve the case and return the property to its rightful owner.”

Doughney also noted that information can also come in handy for insurance purposes, especially in the case of fire, flood or storm damage.

“It’s completely Internet-based, so you never have to worry about losing the data,” Doughney stated. “Your information can only be accessed by you using your username and password. If the need arises, you can print your entry from any computer with Internet access and share it with law enforcement.”

Each “Report It” account can store up to 100 items with the same type of online security used by financial institutions and government agencies. Corporate and small business accounts are also available.

Doughney says Daytona Beach residents can also use the program and anyone who wants to know if the city they live in has “Report It” can find out by calling their local law enforcement agency.
