Bunnell, FL – A Bunnell man is wanted and another is in custody after deputies say they peppered a vehicle with an assault rifle.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old Spencer H. Sarmento will be charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon once he’s captured.
Investigators are considering filing more charges on Sarmento in Monday’s incident at a home on West Canal Avenue in Bunnell, according to FCSO spokesman Jim Troiano.
“[FCSO] received a 911 call at approximately 3:15 PM,” Troiano stated. “Following a disagreement over auto parts, 2 suspects came to [the home] armed with assault-type weapons. One of the suspects fired multiple shots into an unoccupied vehicle while in the close proximity of several individuals.”
Troiano wouldn’t specifically say how many shots were fired, but the incident report showed that deputies think Sarmento fired around 10 to 15 times at the vehicle while the other suspect held a gun in his hand but did not fire.
The suspects managed to run away, but FCSO developed enough information at the scene to get a search warrant for the home that Sarmento shares with 19-year-old Dacotah W. Clarke. Troiano says both men live close to the home where the shooting happened.
“With the assistance of the FCSO SWAT team, entry was made to the home and [Clarke] was arrested without incident,” Troiano added. “An AR-15 type weapon was recovered.”
No injuries were reported in the shooting, per FCSO.
Clarke is charged with 5 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He’s held on $12,500 bond at the Flagler County Jail as of 1 PM Tuesday.
Sarmento is described as a white man who stands 5’6 and weighs around 135 pounds. He may be armed with an assault-style weapon, according to FCSO.
Anyone with information on Sarmento is asked to call 911 immediately or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
