Daytona Beach, FL – Investigators are trying to find a woman who allegedly cashed a fraudulent check from an Ormond Beach company.

The Daytona Beach Police Department says it happened on September 5th at the Bank of America branch on 1025 West International Speedway Boulevard.

Earlier this week, DBPD sent security video stills of the suspect to the media. Those images are posted below this article.

DBPD Sergeant James Chirco says the woman went by the name of Shedeja Stewart when cashing the check, but police aren’t sure if that’s her real name.

“The female cashes a fraudulent check in the amount of $1,500,” Chirco added. “Her identification was not checked at the bank to verify that name.”

According to the incident report, the bad check wasn’t reported to DBPD until over 2 weeks later. It notes that a 39-year-old male employee at United Water Restoration on West Granada Boulevard in Ormond Beach was the one who reported it on September 21st.

Per the report, the man told police that he had been tipped by a woman whose identity was redacted from the report and that a former employer of his may be involved somehow.

Anyone with information is asked to call DBPD Detective Eric Hinkson at 386-671-5220 or hinksone@dbpd.us.
